Mesquite Opportunities Regional Fund to Receive Major
Funding from the Nevada Commission on Tourism
On Wednesday, June 10th, The Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) held their quarterly meeting during which the grant awards for several different state tourism grants were announced. The meeting was held as a simultaneous videoconference from the Travel Nevada offices in Las Vegas and Carson City. George Gault, Amy Bradshaw, and John Rosen attended the meeting as representatives of the Mesquite Opportunities Regional Fund (MORF).
MORF submitted two different tourism-related applications for grants, one for the Rural Marketing grant, and the second for the Travel Nevada 3D Destination Development grant. MORF was informed that they will be receiving $34,174 for the Rural Marketing grant and $563,685 for the Travel Nevada 3D Destination Development grant.
Due to the recognition of Mesquite as an emerging major player in the Nevada tourism space, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority asked for additional time to meet with MORF to discuss ways in which the two organizations can increase their collaboration and cooperation. The formal awarding of the grant funds has therefore been postponed until the next NCOT quarterly meeting in September. The amount of the grant awards will not change, but some of the uses of the funds might be adjusted to avoid duplication of efforts between the two organizations.
MORF Chairman George Gault stated, “We are truly pleased to receive these grant awards and appreciate the confidence that our funding partners have placed in our community. These investments will help strengthen Mesquite's tourism industry, enhance visitor experiences, and support long-term economic growth. We are also excited about the opportunities that increased collaboration with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will bring as we work together to elevate Mesquite's visibility, expand our reach to new audiences, and create lasting benefits for our residents, businesses, and visitors.”
Amy Bradshaw added, “I want to express my gratitude to the members of the Mesquite Travel Nevada 3D Steering Committee for their remarkable commitment throughout this process. Their hard work, thoughtful planning, and unwavering belief in Mesquite's potential laid the foundation for these successful grant applications. This achievement belongs to the entire committee, and we are proud to see their efforts translated into investments that will benefit our community for years to come.”
MORF intends to hold an open community meeting after the NCOT quarterly meeting to provide details of the exciting tourism growth plans for Mesquite going forward. Details of the community meeting will be announced at a later date.
